on the second Monday, we meet at 7.30 pm in Rooms 2101 &
2102 at NSCC Kingstec, Belcher Street, Kentville, unless that
day is a statutory holiday. In that event the Club meets on
the following Monday.
The program consists
of a short business meeting, followed by a presentation on
an educational topic, often with slides, and then ends with
refreshments and socializing. An exchange table for plants,
for seeds, or for garden catalogues is often part of the program.
In May, the Club
holds a Plant Sale for the public. This is
our most important fund-raiser. The Club relies on the money
raised to support our Philanthropic activities.
have two Garden Tours annually–
the Members’ Gardens Tour and a Bus Tour.
One summer Saturday afternoon is spent visiting members
who have invited us to tour their gardens. On the Bus
Tour we visit three or four Gardens and/or Nurseries
beyond the Wolfville – Kentville area. Nursery
visits can offer an opportunity to buy plants at good
Flower and Vegetable Show.
This is held each August. It is open to members and
the general public. Members display the results of their
gardening endeavours for the judges and other members.
In recent years, it has included a display related to
Before the September meeting we enjoy an outdoor supper with
corn on the cob, hot dogs and desserts, a social meeting which
started in September, 1992.
Our AGM, held in November, takes the form of a banquet with
reports, election of officers, presentation of awards and
members of the Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs (NSAGC)
and attend the Annual Convention. Each spring we have a District
Meeting with other member garden clubs in our area.
