Growing With the Annapolis Valley since 1983

Overview of the Valley Gardeners Club

Valley Gardeners Club is a group of gardeners and gardening enthusiasts located in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. We host speakers and workshops on a wide variety of topics, arrange garden tours, and organize member seed and plant swaps. We also hold an annual plant sale fundraiser, participate in local Seedy Saturday events, and give back to the community through various philanthropic endeavours.

Involvement in the community is integral to the spirit of the Club and is reflected in our Objectives:

  • to encourage interest in all kinds of recreational gardening and to promote better horticultural practices,

  • to encourage the conservation of natural resources,

  • to provide a medium for the exchange of gardening ideas.

Our History

The Valley Gardeners Club was formed back in 1983 by a few dedicated and passionate members. On the occasion of the Club's 25th Anniversary in 2008, past member Anne Hope mused about the future. Her words still hold true today:

"As we look ahead to the future of the club, we are sensitive of the challenges of our changing environment and its effects on our lifestyles, but gardening and our club have so much to offer us as individuals and communities that we must find ways and members, to continue for another 25 years."

The Valley Gardeners Club is also part of the Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs (NSAGC), which represents gardeners across the province. Together with the NSAGC and the 60+ member clubs, we promote gardening activities, share our knowledge with new gardeners, and create opportunities to enjoy each other's company.
